We manufacture and fit timber Bi-fold sliding doors in our own workshops to the very highest of standards. Each set is individually customised using your own choice of timber, ironmongery and finish.
These door systems are suited to both existing and new builds and can be used in various applications - for internal space conversion of two adjacent areas, or for bringing the outside in including Balconies. In commercial spheres they can be used to divide rooms up or create meeting areas, or bring pavement café culture to your restaurant/night club.
Ironmongery – Operating Gear
We only use the very best components and central to our philosophy is the use of weatherfold sliding folding door ironmongery. It incorporates a top hung roller system with fine adjustment to ensure smooth operation to carry the weight of the doors thereby give an effortless operation. Available in Satin steel or brass effect finishes, can be fitted to an opening of up to 12 metres wide! The door sets can either open inwards or outwards, combined with security and weathering capabilities second to none. We can even incorporate aluminium sills to comply with DDA access requirements. (Disability Discrimination Act).
Timber
We use primarily solid timber for our bi-fold doors, machined and detailed in our own workshops. Utile and European Oak is very often used as our timber choice. As they have excellent durability and lifespan and takes either a stain or painted finish extremely well. Many other species are also available.
We offer a range of finishes in our purpose built spray shop. When a painted finish is required, we use three coats of micro-porous paint – any colour, to your taste. We use top quality coatings from Teknos which allow us to offer up to a 6 year guarantee on the life of the finish. We can prepare samples for you whenever needed.
We use a range of toughened double glazed, hi-Tec. We always use low “E” glass units, filled with argon gas for improved thermal efficiency or to ensure greater security, laminated glass for example. Etched or patterned glass can also be incorporated.
Quality Craftsmanship
All doors are machined, joined, and can be finished and glazed in our workshops by our own highly skilled and qualified joiners. Some of our competitors use dowelled joints which are not as robust and will not last as long as our wedged scribed mortice and tenon joints and with 55mm thickness doors, which are drained and vented to help protect the double glazed units from breaking down.
Fully Customisable
At Shaws Joinery we believe in fully customisable products. We can alter stile or rail sections of the doors to suit your own design or to maximise glass area, finish and glass specifications to suit. Our experience and expertise delivers the quality of product for which Shaws Joinery is renowned whilst still giving you complete control and the ability to fully personalise your joinery.
